LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE--Garrett Paulsen

Love is one of the most important concepts we can conceive on this earth. Anyone can receive, or give away love. Through love, all things can be made possible. The best example one can use to show what love is, is through Christ. In Mosiah chapter three, it rehearses many of the things he went through while on this earth to show his extreme love and devotion to everyone. He was tortured, hurt, spat upon, and mentally abused by many. Through enduring all of these hardships, he showed how much he truly loves us. It is because of his love that it is possible that we may return to live with him and our heavenly father again. To gain eternal salvation we must do all we can to become like him. Is there a better way than to love our fellow men like Christ did? Perhaps the best way we can show our love of others is by showing charity to others, and through acts of service. Showing our love will help us to gain as many blessing as we can, and live the best life we can.
Although love is very important, there is a fine line between good love and bad love. If we are not careful we may start to love worldly things, things that are not important, and that we should not love. Doing this only gets in the way of our eternal progression and slows our pursuit for happiness. It is all too common in this world where a good person is turned into an evil being because they have come to love things of this world. In Jacob chapter 2, he tells the people to denounce the love of riches, pride, and unchastely; for those things would bring their downfall. An example of this coming to pass happens in Mosiah chapter 11 when Noah becomes king. He doesn’t rule for the people, but he rules so that he can gain as much wealth and worldly things as he can. He becomes a wicked king, and his people follow in his path, becoming just as wicked. It is a shame things like this have to happen, and it can be stopped by keeping your love away from worldly things and on heavenly things.
In Mosiah chapter 2 verse 4 it says, “Keep the commandments of God, that they might and be filled with love towards God and all men.” Through this verse we can see how we can obtain love; we must keep the commandments of God. In doing this, our ability to love, not only God but also all other people, grows to endless bounds. This is comforting because this is also saying that by doing the things god has told us to do, it will make it even easier to keep doing those things. It is an endless circle that god made so the righteous can have help to keep being righteous.
The church Hymn titled god is love says…
Earth with her ten thousand flowers,
Air with all its beams and showers,
Heavens infinite expanse,
Seas resplendent countenance,
All around and all above,
Bear this record, God is love.
I think that this hymn is so powerful because it shows the true power of love; God is love.
It is so very important to love our brothers and sisters on this earth. Another great example of someone having a lot of love for their brethren is in Mosiah Chapter 7. This is the story of Ammon and the Lamanites. He knew that the Lamanites did not like the nephrites, but he put his life in risk so that he could teach them the gospel and help them become followers of Christ. We can follow his example, not by necessarily putting our lives at risk, but by sharing the truth with others around us. Remember, love thy neighbor as thyself. I will end with my testimony that I know that god loves us and sent his son, Jesus Christ, who also loves us greatly. Through love many things are possible, and it is important to make our love for others grow. Amen.

I liked the hymn that you used and how it said God is love, because it's not a definition that is commonly used and i thought it was really cool.

I liked how you distinguished between good love and bad love. That made me think about the world today and how so many people are subject to the bad love. I love how you used Christ as an example in the beginning, and how you explained true love and happiness.

I like the story about Ammon and the laminates in the book of Mormon it makes me think that we should share love and service to everyone that needs it.

I enjoyed your blog, but i really liked the circular theory part in it. By showing love we will be able to gain all the blessing we can on this earth, by gaining all the blessing we can we will become better people, and as better people we will do our best to bless the lives of others. Then its back to step 1 all over again.

I liked the distinction between good love and bad love, I have never really thought about it that way before. I guess that is why we say charity is the pure love of Christ instead of just love. I also liked your insight in how God makes it easier for the righteous to be more righteous. Great blog!
